 This is how I feel ... 2025 is simply continuing into 2026, LOL. Not looking for anything special, anything different, anything grand. I am more than happy to continue as is. 

Since I did not prepare any special image, and I do like a post with at least one pic, let me borrow what I did for our Endrucks 1920 Project Facebook group. And all the tatting you see is by our Endrucksian tatters!!!

Majority of the stars & snowflakes are derivatives of E3 & E12 for the Tat Me Endrucks Dec2022 game and the rest are the E15 Leafy Stars which I showcased recently. Links to roundups for details are listed at the end of this post.

A brief recap of the year gone bay to emphasize the continuity since there are a lot of fairly big to medium sized projects underway ....

• Net Best's book that I am editing - the Glossary which I considered almost done last January with merely some samples to be tatted ... turns out there was so much more to add and improve. At present only some models need to be tatted and a bit of clean-up is required. And then to get to the chapters.
• The updating of all PDFs in our EP collection is still ongoing, though Ninetta and I have covered some ground there. This may carry on through the year.
• Since late late August, we are also compiling a tutorial resource doc dedicated to techniques and effects used in our  Endrucks' patterns and derivatives. This doc will be released very soon though some PDFs remain to be completed.
• Manju had derived the entire alphabet from E17 which I am diagramming and presenting. While she has sent me the pattern and pics for all, I have managed to finish A to N. So the rest will continue through the next several months. The HAPPY you see above is Manju's!
• My blogging might continue to be sporadic if I follow in the footsteps of 2025 and I might not be able to respond to each and every comment, though I definitely read and appreciate each. 

I lost almost six months at a stretch last year when I couldn't focus on any 'heavy' thinking (the updating came at the right time in that sense). This year I hope no such problem will loom up. I have learned to not stress myself out trying to reach a deadline - I do what I can, when I can, and how I can, to the best of my ability and circumstances .... enjoying the journey and each moment.

Meanwhile I learned a lot, read and researched, discussed with experts, and concepts became clearer, and I also received patterns and books from friends!

EP Medley 3

Continuing from my last post, here are some more models that were tatted, derived, adapted or designed for the Endrucks 1920 Project. Due to the 20 tags limit in blogger, I had separated these from the previous EP medley as containing tatting around bezel and/or with beads.

Now isn't this a beauty!!! Extracting two main motifs from the E16 pattern and positioning them into this gorgeous hand jewellery! 

Here's what Natalia says -

Motif 16. I slightly changed the central motif, made it more symmetrical and removed one row of the chain that did not fit into the pattern (too dense). I embroidered with beads that I found at home, so the choice was not rich. In principle, the pattern works, only some corrections are needed -in some places add a couple of knots, in others remove. I won't talk about other shortcomings. I can post the patterns if someone wants to play with them.

Ninetta is working on presenting this pattern where more pics will be shared.

This is what Natalia says -

This is a necklace with three fish: the first fish is a pattern 43 from Manju Talekar + some beads, the second fish has the tail from pattern 43 (it used to be the head, it's movable) + natural shell, cast using the Guastalla Edda method, the third one is pattern 12 (the medallion - adaptation by Krystyna Mura), the middle is from the pattern 43 too. 

When I asked her whether there was any cultural significance to the fish, she replied - 

I just liked the pattern, but one fish wasn't enough, and two looked odd, so I had to make a third. Just in case, I tatted two more small motifs, but that was clearly too much, so I made earrings out of them, although they're rather poorly tatted. The pattern for the first and third fish already exists, with minor modifications, and it's unlikely anyone will make a shell of the same shape and size, so a separate file isn't really necessary....We love to eat fish, so from a gastronomic point of view, it is present in our culture. I live in Canada, in a small town also called "lobster capital".

Simple yet clever adaptation and again a confirmation that needle can be used effectively to tat these patterns.

EP medley 2

 What was supposed to be one post now has to be done in two parts because blogger has a new rule - only 20 tags allowed. Earlier the limit was 200 letters. All I can ask is that you bear with me and return to see the beauties in the next post as well.

Back in April 2022, it was my intention to share a mix of Endrucksian models from our members, showcasing the different effects, applications, adaptations, etc. as inspiration. Along the way there was so much to share from our games, and the burst of pattern PDFs that this fell by the wayside. Now I am trying to revive it whenever possible .... 

E28 & E39 combo adaptation : 

This is the E28 Gift Box with E39 Rose by Daniela Galli (March2022)

Daniela said - 

I try number 28 but I pull, I tighten the bows (chains) too much and the result is a little hat... I decide not to throw it away, this is the result .. I made a mini box

Although I cannot be certain, I think instead of 8 repeats she made only 5 (or is it 6?) repeats around; which is why there was so much cupping, LOL.

She repeated the cupped doily for the base and lid getting a nice box.

And she went on to decorate the lid with an adaptation of the E39 motif into a 3D rose, adding layers to the rose, and then some random tatted foliage and flowers. She has already adapted other Endrucks' patterns for 2D and 3D roses! Like the rose below ...

E42 application :

Roberta Porati (June2025) tatted up some of the E42 roses along with some foliage-type fillers to decorate a comb! One can see blocks, rings, chains, and even some Cluny tallies interspersed around the roses. Although at the time this is what she said - 

I'm undecided whether to stick it on the comb or on 1 headband,....

E5 adaptation :

Debbie L Fister (May2025) extracted a motif from the E5 edging and adapted it for bookmarks, adding long tails. This is what she said -

The first 2 tatted as written version 1. # 3 tatted beginning at top & made in 1 pass. I think version 2 would have been the better choice. I never got the hang of tatting an anticlockwise ring.

Cynthia Dooley (Oct2025), a needle tatter, worked up this flock of bats to brighten up a T-shirt! And  she chirps -

Daddy bat, Mommy bat, Baby bat on flight for Halloween. Sewn on to T-shirt. ... What fun.

Yup, I cannot remain disciplined for long, LOL. Spending too much time at the compy made my fingers itch to pick up my shuttles after a longish break. Well, the perfect foil was our February game which has a bunch of small motifs to select and tat. Another reason was helping out with presentations ....

In chronological order ... tatted for Pick Me Feb 2023 (#pickmeEndrucks)

Judith Connors published her variation of Endrucks' pattern #34 in her newsletter a while back. And Antonia made a slight 'mistake' thus leading her to call it Butterfly edging. The butterfly was clearly visible, but also a heart!

Antonia Lai's Calmful Heart is extracted from that same edging #34.

And these are the Life is Bliss butterflies from the same, as they were being tested and tweaked. The final pattern is the one like the right, but with the wings attached towards the base.

Tatted in size 20.

Stephanie Mc (Tattimic) joined and improvised 2 hearts from #3 to create this Pretty Me Butterfly last year. I enjoyed tatting it, using a SCMR instead of SR for the center. The diagrammed pattern has been updated with written instructions.

Three butterflies together.

Krystyna Mura adapted #12 into soooo many patterns, one of which is the Garden Cosmos. I haven't used this Lizbeth size 40 shade much and chose it, Turned out the ball had leftover lengths on the ball. 

The original pattern has 11 petals. I ran out of thread on one shuttle and the other was close on its heels. Hence tied off after 8 petals to create this slightly 3D form.

Instead of beads at the tips, I used Victorian sets on the middle third of chains.

Krystyna adds a single bead in the center while on the go. I waited to see how large the negative space was to choose the appropriate bead. In the end I strung fine seed beads (yellow and black) on one of the tails, coiled it around and sewed it down.

This was made possible because of a gift of large-eyed beading needles from Madhur! Now I nave no reason to not use beads, except of course my own lethargy, LOL.

The tails are left coz I might add a stem and leaves later.

So this is my indiscipline - my strong tendency to get distracted!

Five-pointed star from Little Stars and Snowflakes by krystyna mura

The 2nd motif I started before the December event began was a 5-pointed star designed by Krystyna Mura, which was later embellished in order to enter it in the contest. I shared my 1st Before-After here - https://tipsaroundthehome.blogspot.com/2022/12/before-and-after-1.html

This is the BEFORE model devoid of even the decorative picots that were in the pattern. I just wanted to get a sense of the design when Krystyna first sent the pdf.

It was also my first time tatting with Sanbest - the threads Ninetta had sent me - hence my initial stitches were a bit tentative. This one has 3-strands, closer to size 40 I guess.

It was tough closing the tiny ring (the first 2 arms on the left). After that I made an overhand tie at the base of the ring to hide the defect. You can see the difference, with these 3 rings standing out like beads.

When finished, I chose the easy way out by tying the 2 tails for hanging. 

This is the AFTER model. Using red sewing thread, I sewed in a star sequin topped with a bead, and continued behind working the needle into the 3rd picot counterclockwise. Must've gone around 3 times and lo and behold there was one more star shape! 3 stars in one pattern!

There is a glaring mistake on the right where the thread went around the chain rather than through the picot. 

Krystyna always does a stellar job creating and sharing multiple variations. This time she took one little motif from Endrucks' pattern #12 and soared to Outer Space! She gifted us 3 pdfs filled with star and snowflake patterns as well as further possibilities and variations. Love her artistic and clear presentations though the images can be a bit of an ink-guzzler when printed ;-P

Lady with a Sunshade (3D)

Krystyna Mura has rolled out such a vast and enticing range of patterns from just ONE pattern that I cannot stop wondering whether this is a show-stopper or a show topper! And the following pics are only a glimpse of what more is in the pdf itself; not to mention some of the prototypes she sent in!

This is the original pattern #12 from Endrucks ---

She has provided samplers and diagrams for her modified versions, too. Her beaded version looks pretty as a cuff bracelet.

She extracted part of the motif to create a Bracelet with Coin Beads, a single repeat of which gives us this medallion ---

The lower part of the original pattern/edging is quite a common motif used to make the skirts and gowns of Crinoline ladies and angels. I wonder who was the original designer? Any ideas? Or was it Frau Endrucks?

Anyways, Krystyna has used the same motif to design so many girls, ladies, and angels (and also one boy!) - both 2D and 3D, that it will take a while for them to walk down the ramp! Here are 2 of them (besides the lead pic) ---

Speaking of Christmas, she has also derived numerous motifs, stars, ice drop, and a miniature tree, all worked in one pass and ideal for cards and decoration ---

The world of animals and insects hasn't been forgotten be it the Bat and Butterfly in 2D, and a Peacock and Bird in 3D ---

Butterflies need nectar, hence flowers cannot be far behind! She shares the pattern for a Garden Cosmos (2D). In her gallery she showcases a 3D Pumpkin along with the following beauties ---

The amazing part is that most of her adaptations, whether flat or dimensional, are worked in one pass unless you want a speck of colour to highlight something. A case in point is this gorgeous doily below ---

Diagrams are colour-coded, self-explanatory and clear, depicting the count and sequence. What I love is how she boxed in the repeat sequence. You know how the starting (and/or final) motif in an edging is often different from the subsequent or middle repeats due to joins, etc. Her diagram highlights this without the need for text.
Personally, this is all I need – a good pic of the tatted model alongside these excellent diagrams – and no written pattern!
Krystyna also adds in a few effect/technique pics and tips/notes to explain her method of working.
The pdf is like a perfect booklet to keep us busy and happily engaged for a long time.

LEAFLIKE RING

Did you notice the little leaf in the daffodil and the Bat ears? An odd and unique shape, don't you think?

Well, this is Krystyna's adaptation of a dimple ring which she calls 'leaflike ring'.

Although she explains it in the pattern pdf, on my request she graciously prepared a separate tutorial pdf.

Tremendously Incredible work by this enormously talented and generous lady! I have still to detect how and where she extracted a few of the motifs for her ginormous adaptations! And she promises to share more of the patterns for her adaptations!
