All patterns are from the book ‘Die Schiffchen-Spitzen’,1920, by Frau Eleonore Endrucks-Leichtenstern, reworked in the Endrucks 1920 Project, 2020.

1. Anna Bonelli - is adept with both needle and shuttle. However, since there is a shuttle in the pic, it is safe to assume this beautiful decoration or pendant is done with shuttle.

2. Brookie Heightsmen - Always one to think divergently, she adapted two E41 motifs to create this cute beaded hot air balloon equipped with the tiny basket (probably from E44). "...up up and away in my beautiful balloon".

3. Lella Loops - is an accomplished needle tatter. Here's what she says - "My small entry for #InflateMeEndrucks game, from pattern E28. It naturally tends to cup so I thought it was perfect. I insert a little organza pouch with dry lavender flowers. Liz metallic, needle 7."

4. Manju Talekar - Manju joined us in late April and has already participated with such enthusiasm and talent in all our games since. She sent us 3 models and though they do not strictly conform to the rules of the game, we are most happy to showcase her beautiful works, all from E12.

"From original Endrucks pattern #12, Angel in white, I modified the skirt with a lace pattern in round and more flare. In the Wings added some small picots in between the large ones. I found it difficult to take a picture showing three dimensional pattern."

Deliberately made in flag colours, it shows how easily it can be adapted to other colours.

5. Margaret Davies - is a real trooper! Despite life getting solidly in the way, she adamantly whipped out this cute 3D butterfly from E32. Notice how the minimal joins give it an open and relaxed appearance.

Originally I put a bead in the middle of the onion ring, somewhere the bead did not like the middle, it might have been too big, this time I tried again the photo is not easy to take, so I hope you can see it is 3D I put two butterflies together next time I am going to try some beads."

6. Muskaan - I've already said all I had to in my respective posts (links under each pic). This inflation became so addictive that my entries inflated to 3! And the third one (tree) has 3 motifs instead of 2.

7. Ninetta Caruso - quickly tatted a model for our game before it was announced so that we had a range of possible ideas to inspire participants! A master of miniature, later she tatted the cutest little coin purse.

Her work in progress. Gives us an idea of how tiny her pin cushion is! And its all handmade!

Keeping the E30 Square pattern intact, she merely added a ring at each corner to span the puffed pin cushion. This modification is inked in the above image.

8. Ulrike Klauser - joined us from Switzerland a few months back and has demonstrated some beautifully tatted pieces nicely displayed. You can see her lovely tatting (including some Endrucksian) in her new multilingual site - https://schiffchenspitze.ch/en/home

She chose the Slim angel from the E7 pair of Slim and Chubby Angels for this game. She inserted organza inside and placed it on a postcard for a beautiful backdrop!

Doesn't it appear as if the angel is having a blast flying across the lit sky! It's also a good idea for a Flying Kite.

To sum up, we had 8 participants submitting 13 models. And the range is quite wonderful!

Our hearts are inflated with joy and satisfaction at seeing these amazing models! Hope these re-interpretations inspire in future, too.  Many thanks from Ninetta and me.💗

E44 motif arrangements

 Ninetta has been showcasing the E44 cover doilies (links at the end) from our tat-along in January last year and asked me to write something for her final post on the topic where she will share her pattern for continuous tatting. Had to refresh my memory and discovered I hadn't posted the motif arrangements mentioned in my post here -  https://tipsaroundthehome.blogspot.com/2023/02/the-cover-covered.html So, like Ninetta said, better late than never. 

One of the advantages of working in pieces rather than in one pass is that one can play with arrangements and combinations! So without much ado, here are some quick pics I had taken back then. Perhaps it will inspire some one to tat one or more.

Carin Jansen’s Angel Choir doily TAL

As the final strains of the angelic melody dies down, the waltz comes to an end. It was an exhilarating and learning experience that will be treasured for years to come. We didn't just tat lace, we built memories, which is what tat-alongs are all about.

Ah, but it was not an easy romp home for Anita Barry, but no means! You remember her fixation anecdotes here and here? She wasn't wearing 6 inch heels while tatting, so why did more missteps and stumbling follow, despite having the finishing line in sight?!

Round 6 struck again, this time with 2 of the 3 rings in a trefoil missing (arrow in pic above).

Some colourful language followed when she noticed the miss! And who can blame her ;-P

Where there's a mistake, there's a fix!

Anita shared her tools of the trade...I like to call it tools of our craft ;-D

 

The strange looking pick top left is a thorn from the Agave Cactus! Cool, right?!

And on the right is the needle as picot gauge in action.

' The above are "self-threading" sewing needles used for sewing in thread ends. There is a slot above the eye of the needle to slide the thread down into the eye of the needle. '

' And my fabric Ort Bag (scrap bag) for my thread ends. It's a tiny trash bag.'

Round 7 in progress. She followed my example of making the picot at tip longer.

Whoop Whoop waltzing home finally ...

One would think her doily is riddled with fixes. But look what emerged from it - 

We have her husband to thank for this inspiration - he wanted the angel from Carin's doily to have "More Heart"!

I think this quote sums it up nicely since Anita will be sharing this experience in a speech titled "Fear Knot" at the IOLI Convention this year, showcasing the international cooperation this doily embodies, as well as 'bumps and grinds Tatters get themselves into'.

It was Anita's idea early last year, to tat a doily together. We had zeroed in on the Mystery doily whenever we could. On seeing this doily, I just felt we could all use some angels in our lives during these weird times, and Anita graciously accepted. Who knew this doily would come to create so many personal memories for her, besides the ones we made mutually!

And we had the added pleasure of several other tatters tatting along. Use hashtag #AngelChoirTAL to find the doilies on facebook as well as in Just Tatting group. If you type 'Angel Choir' in the Just Tatting search engine, it will throw up more versions by tatters who uploaded their finished doilies. Carin Jansen's Angel Choir doily TAL – Round 2

Angels are what first drew me to this pattern. And to see them merrily dancing around was an added bonus. It is a very clever and creative design and hats off to the designer, Carin!

Techniques : 2 shuttles ctm, long chains, pointed chain (one stitch SCMR), picot join to right, SCMR, lock join, very small picots.
Optional Techniques : 1 shuttle and ball ctm, frontside/backside tatting, other methods for pointed chain, mock ring, blipless join, beads.
[all tutorials can be found here with several alternatives for pointed chain, joins, etc.]

As before, we share our joint notes, tips, and ideas below. Carin has already given very detailed instructions, including alternate stitch count for metallic thread, which I will try not to repeat here.

This is a cleverly crafted angel using simple rings and chains and reverse work between them.

The 1ds SCMR creates a nicely pointed chain for the wing tips and a picot between the 2 half stitches is perfect for joining later, without adding extra length/bulk to the tip! Whether to put a paperclip to hold the picot open depends on our personal comfort and skill.

Shuttle 2 requires more thread than shuttle1 which is used for only 3 of the 4 rings in each angel. However, one can work entire round with only one shuttle and ball if the head is worked as a mock ring. After making a lock join, continue to tat a chain and make another lock join in the same picot to simulate a ring.

Each center and head ring is secured on either side with joins to a chain, ensuring good stability. 

Joining to previous wing tip can be a bit tricky in fine thread. However joining directly without SCMR creates a curved, not pointed wing. It is easier to work this SCMR with 1st half stitch, join, 2nd half stitch.

Besides joining the wings at the tips, another join can be made further down to add stability or hold shape – about 4 or 5 ds down, using a very small picot. This will not alter the overall shape. This additional join could be more important if one does not want to tat more rounds.

Many tatters prefer to work long chains with the balanced double stitch. Make necessary stitch adjustments if you use it.

TWoT Notes:  The row can move in clockwise or counterclockwise direction as seen in both WIP versions. The reason can be found in whether one is doing traditional or fs/bs tatting; whether the first ring was worked frontside or backside.

In directional tatting (fs/bs), one should be careful while making joins to avoid colour blips on the front of work. Or one can use blipless joins.
For frontside/backside tatting, you could start this round with a backside ring so that most of the tatting is then done frontside.

There is some ruffle while working the round, but settles after simple rolling pin blocking.

The last wing joined to the first is an example of picot join to the right, though one may not realise it.

Beads on the halo would sparkle. Or perhaps graduated picots? The free flowing effect of these angels seems like they are floating through air, making each angel unique.

Notice the large sunflower shape if we do not tat the top half of each angel's body? So we have a bonus option to work a large flower coaster in the right colours! And we know how to get the petals to be pointed :-D

In Lizbeth size 80, 

single Angel motif  : < 3cms high; 2.5 cms wide wingspan; 1 cm wide at base.
After 2 rounds, this doily measures 9 cms in Lizbeth size 80.

I absolutely love this colourway and am glad I did not go with my original yellow for this round. And the little ring for body is truly special with the 1ds adding a tiny 'waist'! Every project brings in new learning in some way or other.

My friend, Rose Deguara, had a tip for Round 1 (which I have now included in that post) - The last inner ring needs to be joined in the round to the first inner ring, thus calling for a picot join to the right.
