Crown by MC…H (on Instagram)
Such
crash diets are not good for the body, nor one’s complexion. Look what happened
to the crown after it regurgitated all the pearls and beads – turned into a
dark skeleton almost ;-D
But
I am a happy tatter. This version is so much closer to the designer’s model,
don’t you think?! A scan would’ve given a more realistic comparison.
Interestingly,
the height remains the same. It really is the tummy that got reduced from 2” to
just over 1½”.
The
crown would be narrower still if the joining picots were smaller.
Both crowns are worked in Anchor Pearl Cotton size 20

The
only other thing – I used Catherine Wheel Joins (CWJ) on the outer side chains.

On
a different note, I have decided to skip a few Sundays of the 25 Snowflake Project and catch up later. I do have ideas, sketches, and even some trials on
my shuttles. But all the pattern writing is piling up and I would like to
finish those before starting on the rest. My personal challenge included
finishing old snowflake patterns, and here I am piling on more UFOs, and stress - I want to enjoy the entire process, including exploration!
When
I’m tatting, I have lots of little tips/nuances in my head, not all of which I
jot down. Hence longer the delay, more I forget. Hopefully you will see more
patterns in the coming days …
I like the beaded version, it’s more regal! Yes, it doesn’t make sense to stress yourself with deadlines and forget to enjoy the process.
ReplyDeleteIt's come to the point that I kept looking over my shoulder while tatting, half my mind on what all I had to do, and part of it stressing over the coming Sunday, Jane 😃😐
DeleteBoth crowns are nice. The black one sure shows the shape better, but I think if you could use what I call flat teardrop beads in place of the pearls(or just smaller pearls) the white would show the shape better too. The black one is perfect in shape!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteFlat teardrops is a great idea, Sue 😍 I had to go with what I had, but if done again, I could probably increase the stitches proportionate to the original, reflective of the designer's
DeleteIts interesting the differences between the two crowns. I like the beads. There is no rush to turn out snowflakes.
ReplyDeleteI should've done without beads First, getting a realistic idea of bead size 😃 Vicki, 13 (+ multiples) of 25 snowflakes completed and 7 of 13 patterns uploaded. Once the remaining 6 are patterns are uploaded, I can begin with the design process stress-free 😉
DeleteCan I subscribe "longer the delay, more I forget"? I feel guilty for many of mine that remained just pictures.
ReplyDeleteI like your black version 🥰
You totally can, Nin ;-D My pictures are growing, but nuanced tips or instructions or small AHA moments get lost - sometimes even my interest ;-P
DeleteBoth are very pretty! Your weight loss description made me chuckle! Is that what will happen to me if I achieve my weight loss goal?! Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteTake your time. We will be here ready, willing, and able. I haven't been able to catch up with all of your ideas in the time I've been following you.
:-D I lost 4 kilos in under 2 weeks last month due to illness and I Felt dark and lifeless ;-P
DeleteKeep up your energy, Diane - it reflects in everything! I've been enjoying your tatting, but am only now beginning to get back to commenting as I used to.
Take time! I find the result is much more satisfying. As for the crown, I can see using on a card with glitterpen "gems" drawn behind! Oooooo.....I DO NOT need another project!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat idea, Mel ! Thanks :-)))
DeleteWell done! And informative. I like the beaded crown, but also the black crown. Oh the Places you'll Go!
ReplyDeleteYou hold my hand, Anita ;-D
DeleteI love this pattern and they are beautiful crowns
ReplyDeleteThanks, Margaret :-)
DeleteI truly enjoy reading your musings, and what goes on in your head is amazing! I love what you’ve done with both crowns. Might I suggest a recorder, one you can keep handy to quickly say what’s happening at the moment. Instead of having to jot everything on paper and take away from the moment. Glad you share your pictures even with out the patterns. I can’t keep up anyway 😜
ReplyDeleteOoo, I do like your recording idea, Charlotte 💜 But if hubby sends me to the loony bin (he already thinks I'm half crazy with this tatting mania!), I'm counting on you to play guarantor and bail me out 😃😉😄😆
ReplyDeleteThank you 😍
