mishmash 2020

The year was such a mishmash, such a dump in many ways and creative individuals took refuge in their arts and crafts.

We had to step out of our comfort zone while staying in the comfort of our home
It brought us closer while keeping us apart
It kept our radiant smiles hidden while our masks became colourful and decorative
It revealed many truths while many were deliberately hidden
It altered the hierarchy of ailments and treatments
Old adages, conventions, and behaviours seemed to fall apart
Oh what a hodgepodge - normal, new normal, ultra new normal?
'It was the best of times It was the worst of times?'

So what will the new year unfold? Or will our mishmash continue ....
Whatever the future holds, humanity is resilient and hope springs eternal!
So let's celebrate each moment, each life, each other 💕

  2. You put my thoughts into words! So well written, Muskaan. You’re so good with words. Wish I could absorb being well verse like you are. To the future we look with hope and faith. With so much change we embrace the positive ideas and moments. Keep a merciful heart amongst it all.

  5. Thank you for your positive and inspiring message. The tatting is beautiful, too. :) We never realize just how much we have accomplished, tatting a little at a time. Often it is given away almost as soon as it is finished, and we have seemingly 'nothing' to show for how we spent so much of our time. What a lovely display of your tatting so we can see it all in one place.

    1. You are so right, Stephanie! I was just as surprised as my hubby, especially considering these are merely a sampling from a couple of boxes! If I unloaded All my boxes, there would be quite a high pile, difficult to photograph ;-D
But happily, hubby snagged a couple of smaller doilies and mats for the dining table !!!

  9. all I can say to that is, yes it was a year of mishmash, inspiration from you kept many tatters like me going, ideas sprang up like the poker tatting, the advent calendar, now button tatting, and of course the ice drops continue, new snowflakes ideas, what with lockdowns and masks its was a year of staying home, and here we are a new year and we are back in lockdown and staying home.
I hope this new year is an improvement on last year and we can get back to normal whatever normal is, and perhaps my motivation will return, I wish you a happy healthy safe crafting new year

    1. Thank you so much, Margaret 💕 Well, the virus does not know the difference between dates and years, so it will remain an uninvited guest for quite some time. Designers did try to cheer us and keep us busy! You can add tat-alongs to that list 😄

  11. A very good summation. 😊 IT is so easy to focus on the negative, but often only takes a little extra looking to find something equally positive.
A few weeks late, but Happy new Year!!! 🎉 Here's to a year of growth and productivity.
