Continuing from my last post, here are some more models that were tatted, derived, adapted or designed for the Endrucks 1920 Project. Due to the 20 tags limit in blogger, I had separated these from the previous EP medley as containing tatting around bezel and/or with beads.

E16 derivative - adaptation & rearrangements.

E16 Wrist or Slave Bracelet derived and tatted by Natalia Prokhorova (May 2025)

Now isn't this a beauty!!! Extracting two main motifs from the E16 pattern and positioning them into this gorgeous hand jewellery! 

Here's what Natalia says -

Motif 16. I slightly changed the central motif, made it more symmetrical and removed one row of the chain that did not fit into the pattern (too dense). I embroidered with beads that I found at home, so the choice was not rich. In principle, the pattern works, only some corrections are needed -in some places add a couple of knots, in others remove. I won't talk about other shortcomings. I can post the patterns if someone wants to play with them.

Ninetta is working on presenting this pattern where more pics will be shared.

Imagination knows no bounds! 

This is what Natalia says -

This is a necklace with three fish: the first fish is a pattern 43 from Manju Talekar + some beads, the second fish has the tail from pattern 43 (it used to be the head, it's movable) + natural shell, cast using the Guastalla Edda method, the third one is pattern 12 (the medallion - adaptation by Krystyna Mura), the middle is from the pattern 43 too. 

When I asked her whether there was any cultural significance to the fish, she replied - 

I just liked the pattern, but one fish wasn't enough, and two looked odd, so I had to make a third. Just in case, I tatted two more small motifs, but that was clearly too much, so I made earrings out of them, although they're rather poorly tatted. The pattern for the first and third fish already exists, with minor modifications, and it's unlikely anyone will make a shell of the same shape and size, so a separate file isn't really necessary....We love to eat fish, so from a gastronomic point of view, it is present in our culture. I live in Canada, in a small town also called "lobster capital".

Simple yet clever adaptation and again a confirmation that needle can be used effectively to tat these patterns.

 What was supposed to be one post now has to be done in two parts because blogger has a new rule - only 20 tags allowed. Earlier the limit was 200 letters. All I can ask is that you bear with me and return to see the beauties in the next post as well.

Back in April 2022, it was my intention to share a mix of Endrucksian models from our members, showcasing the different effects, applications, adaptations, etc. as inspiration. Along the way there was so much to share from our games, and the burst of pattern PDFs that this fell by the wayside. Now I am trying to revive it whenever possible .... 

E28 & E39 combo adaptation : 

This is the E28 Gift Box with E39 Rose by Daniela Galli (March2022)

Daniela said - 

I try number 28 but I pull, I tighten the bows (chains) too much and the result is a little hat... I decide not to throw it away, this is the result .. I made a mini box

Although I cannot be certain, I think instead of 8 repeats she made only 5 (or is it 6?) repeats around; which is why there was so much cupping, LOL.

She repeated the cupped doily for the base and lid getting a nice box.

And she went on to decorate the lid with an adaptation of the E39 motif into a 3D rose, adding layers to the rose, and then some random tatted foliage and flowers. She has already adapted other Endrucks' patterns for 2D and 3D roses! Like the rose below ...

E42 application :

Roberta Porati (June2025) tatted up some of the E42 roses along with some foliage-type fillers to decorate a comb! One can see blocks, rings, chains, and even some Cluny tallies interspersed around the roses. Although at the time this is what she said - 

I'm undecided whether to stick it on the comb or on 1 headband,....

E5 adaptation :

Debbie L Fister (May2025) extracted a motif from the E5 edging and adapted it for bookmarks, adding long tails. This is what she said -

The first 2 tatted as written version 1. # 3 tatted beginning at top & made in 1 pass. I think version 2 would have been the better choice. I never got the hang of tatting an anticlockwise ring.

Cynthia Dooley (Oct2025), a needle tatter, worked up this flock of bats to brighten up a T-shirt! And  she chirps -

Daddy bat, Mommy bat, Baby bat on flight for Halloween. Sewn on to T-shirt. ... What fun.

 Jan to March we refrained from organising any game of the month in our FB group. Both Ninetta and I needed a long break to attend to other tasks. Quite a bit of work is involved in holding a game which is not always visible. 

Instead we asked members to display their Endrucksian Tatting (ET) by taking a collective pic(s) of all their Endrucks' works done thus far. The collage they sent would be showcased as the group cover for a few days. 

We started with Ninetta's exquisite collage, but the images below are not in sequence. Several members have already gifted away most of their models.

Ninetta Caruso has now tatted samplers from all 44 of Endrucks' original patterns, besides so many derivatives!!! She tacked on the 44 samplers to an accordion book which was part of an exhibition of their association. Lella Loops shared her lovely needle-tatted models most from past games.

Michelle Forclaz sent in her works which include so many patterns she tweaked and played with.

Margaret Davies has been participating and tweaking and designing derivative patterns, too. This is her first collage.

Debra F Cox took time out to gather whatever models she had left. She used a couple to decorate the book cover, too.

Muskaan This is my 2nd collage which shows many of the doilies and snowflakes. Multiples are the result of either the design process or of tweaking for presenting the original pattern.

Antonia Lai had displayed some of her lovely ET at Queensland Tatters in Nov 2023. We used her pic as our cover for the 2nd anniversary of our FB group, hence not repeated this year. She has tatted many more, including new derivatives. In fact it is her Life is Bliss butterfly from E32, that we are using in our game this month.

We thank all our lovely members who took the time to send us a pic. This is merely a sliver of a slice of the Endrucksian pie which has grown in the past few years! 

Meanwhile, I have stopped receiving notifications when I leave a comment on other blogs. Kind of crazy why some glitch or other keeps plaguing Blogger. Fortunately, one just has to wait it out.

 You might remember that we had created categorised Directories of derivatives from Endrucks' patterns and I shared links as and when they were ready. Now all derivatives are removed from the main EP doc which contains mainly the 44 reworked originals in pdf format. 

Besides this trimming, we also created a Spreading the Word doc so that keeping it updated, along with good sized pics, would be easy. Check out how members have spread word of the book or Project through teaching, articles, exhibitions, etc.

And then there are the games we hold in our FB group. All links to these - from the introduction, rules, album, roundups, etc. are listed in this new EP Events doc. 

All this was necessitated otherwise the main EP doc was getting too large and unwieldy. Now we have active docs that stand alone and there is plenty of space for expansion.

There is still work to be done in creating the collage strips for each directory, updating the EP doc content to reflect the new perspective, etc. We'll get there eventually, LOL.

Meanwhile, here's my first collage of Endrucksian Tatting for the cover of our FB group. We are on a break from gaming till April, but we have invited members to take a pic of all their E tatting thus far to adorn the group cover. 

For the cover, we needed a 2:1 pic size. I chose 16:9 in my cell phone camera since it was closest to the requirement, and after resizing, I hardly had to crop it. Also, I had placed all these motifs on a rectangular wood tray, leaving some space bare on the right (for the notations). This worked well.

The motifs are chosen from two boxes close at hand. Most are in clear plastic zip pouches according to the pattern number. Hence you see multiples of the same pattern. After taking this pic I now think I might require at least 4 or 5 such collages to cover all the E work I've done so far. Let's see ....

This time a kaleidoscope of butterflies flutters across our path!

Sue Bradham's butterfly from hearts. It started with the heart I adapted from a single motif which Sue tweaked into wings and doubled into a butterfly and posted here - http://hiskid66.blogspot.com/2021/03/inspired-by-muskaan-2.html. 

Before finalising a pdf, in March we asked members of our FB group to test tat the diagram and play with it. Oh my, within a few days all these butterflies flew in (not in chronological order)!!! Our enthusiastic tatters displayed their skills in photography alongside their creative versions which is the reason I couldn't stop myself from sharing them all.

Reiko Akamatsu's rainbow coloured butterfly was happy to flit around, testing the various surfaces. :-D

Paola Emilia Rotuletti's butterfly landed on her Easter basket next to a cute chick and the heart. 

And in her previous 2 versions, she played with colour placement! She also added a body and antennae.

Liliana Tosini added a split ring braid and Josephine chain tail ending with a tassel to use as a bookmark. This elegant adaptation also has some well-placed beads and floating/dead end chain antennae.

Antonia Lai worked in a slim body by back-tracking the chain!

Stella Marina added a body in her blue butterfly and adorned it further with gems and sequins!

In her green version, she uses a double-backed Josephine chain for a textured body!

Paola Bevilacqua started off playing with colour placement in her first attempt. And then her next butterfly literally took wing! In metallic thread, this 3D version not only has a thick head and body, but textured front wings. Is it lock chain or Josephine chain - hard to tell - but perfectly shaped!

She shared a video, too, since it is difficult to capture a 3D form in 2D photos.

Daniela Galli worked her first trial piece and then perfected it in the 2nd attempt by upending the wings! The pattern (diagram and written) is included in the pdf.

In order to avoid any mistakes while presenting the pattern, I tatted Daniela's version. In Anchor size 20. On the left wing (bottom tip) I tried a mock ring with lock join and on the right wing I did a SCMR. I prefer the latter.

TIP: If you want to avoid hiding ends, tat the head last as a split ring, leaving the tails long for antennae.

Can't help myself - just one last pic! My butterfly model has settled itself over some of my snowflakes mistaking them for flowers.

In Anchor size 20 (~ Lizbeth 10) the motif is 6 cms wide and 4.5 cms high.

 I wonder if you remember my intention to write a series of 3 articles for the IOLI Bulletin, about our Endrucks 1920 Project (which got published in the Summer issue); how one simple pattern spawned a bonanza of derivatives (this will be published int he Fall issue); and lastly on Frau Endrucks and her book/presentation (in the works). 

So, for the 2nd article the first pattern in her book was chosen. Several reasons but what tilted the scales was the fact that so many tatters had adapted or adopted the basic motif from the edging and transformed it into different shapes and styles. It symbolised the collaborative cooperation of our Project; without this coming together, the Project could never have been carried out so successfully, and continue to carry on. I have tried to capture this comity of our international tatters through the bracelet. 

Happy Hands Linked Bracelet - muskaan

Colours were chosen to represent our diversity of backgrounds - different lands, different races - yet our hands worked together. I will share the pattern and more beading details in the next couple of months.

Happy Hands Edging with Corner - Antonia Lai

Antonia modified the edging slightly by adding an extra ring, spacing out the motifs and making it easier to tat/join to previous motif. However, she also designed a 90 degree corner and shared it enthusiastically! It is a clever design - shift one motif outwards and we have a corner. And the edging can be sewn over the fabric or around the fabric - both work perfectly.

Lea Di Palma

Lea followed the original pattern (https://tipsaroundthehome.blogspot.com/2021/03/balancing-act.html - that pdf needs some tweaking) but instead of using 2 shuttles she worked with a ball and a shuttle. Notice how flexible the edging is to embellish the curvilinear table runner neatly. 

Happy Hands Brooch - Lea Di Palma

 

One single motif in metallic thread and selectively placed crystals - such an elegant brooch for her equally elegant dress. As you can see, it is a quick tat, too. Pair it with matching earrings and we're ready to party!

You can choose your favourite method to add the crystals in the center of the rings, and one crystal is looped over the picot. Findings as required.

Happy Hands Heart - muskaan

 

Remember this heart from the same motif? I tatted the dark one recently to confirm the shuttle changes. It was so depressing to find a fault which was traced back to my original pictorial! Hence all diagrams and pdfs were/are being updated.

Pam Hemenway had enthusiastically and kindly shared her needle tatting notes. All this is included in the pdf now, along with some ideas to arrange the motifs.

Happy Hands Mermaid Fluke/Tail - Sue Bradham

Sue felt the heart looked like a mermaid's tail. Hence she adapted it, adding a body, and working it all in one pass! She graciously sent her notes which Ninetta Caruso helped to decipher into a shareable pattern.

The body is such a clever and perfect design with overlapping rings giving the impression of scales. After tatting the tail (heart) and climbing out with a split ring, one shuttle is cut off and the scaled body is tatted with a single shuttle.
