bits n pieces and a request

TIAS 2017, Armenian Lace, Block Heart
On with the show ….

More practice with Armenian Lace

My further practice with basic knot of Armenian lace done a few days back from Totus Mel's tutorial.
This time I used size 40 Anchor Mercer crochet cotton and it worked beautifully !
I was using leftover thread for the inner rings and ran out all too soon; hence all those ugly ends. Still to complete the other petals to see how it all works out.

Days 7 to 9 of
Jane’s TIAS 2017

I’m sticking with a gown guess. My colourway choice seems to fit with Victorian velvets ☺.

The bead adds a nice touch to the bodice or the slim-trim waist. I’m guessing there’s going to be more of a blouse in later bits, and an alligator join across the base of today’s rings will complete the shawl/ensemble !
Looks like one of Jane Austen’s memorable ladies (hmm, but which one ????) is walking up a little mound on the moors. Clearly the present Jane is paying a TATribute to the past Jane !

Request for a test tatter

Never done this before !

I have written out the pattern for my Block Heart bracelet and would like someone to test tat 1 or 2 heart motifs. It’s a very small piece (2 repeats measure 1½ inches/4cms in size 20 thread), but I’m not sure how clear the instructions are. I’m making a bracelet for now (I've changed the colours), to share before Valentine’s, but have more applications in mind.

Your help will be highly appreciated and credited. Please leave a comment below or email me and I will email the document. Thanks in anticipation

happy tatting always :-)

    I love your TIAS! Day 8 looks like 1/2 a butterfly!! :)
I haven't really done block tatting, but would be willing to try and help if you don't have anyone more experienced to help! :)

    1. Love your comments, Sue & yes, it does look like a beautiful butterfly. I can imagine the smaller second wing attached in overlapping manner. Must try it some time.
Thanks, also, for your offer to test tat. But I do not want to instill a fear of block tatting in you :-P I think a bit of experience in blocks would be better. But I am sending you the document so that you can give me a "beginner's" perspective.

  3. Love your fun work with Armenian lace it's beautiful I too have tried it and it is very pretty but don't like pulling tons of thread through each knot it is not my favorite thing to do. I live your block heart bracelet and will enjoy making this one, but I got too many irons in the fire 😦 some have nothing to do with tatting and makes me sad🙂

    1. Totally agree with you about the thread length, Carollyn ! I don't have any intention of making a big project with it, either. But it was fun to learn - I've always admired Oya.
Thanks for your offer, too. I know you are busy with a lot of stuff and won't burden you :-)

  5. I still "see" the butterfly, but who knows? Only BC3!
I'd like to test tat the heart shaped block for you, if you like one version with size 80 thread :) or with bugle beads :))

    1. I Know bugle beads and your excellent colour/thread choices will bring out the best, Ninetta !!! Each heart is less than 2 cms even in size 20; it might disappear in size 80 ;-P
Mel & Marie are already testing. But if you still want, I'll send it to you for the bugle bead version ? I have the revised pattern in my compy, so will send it tonight (I'm just leaving for an appointment).
      Grazie :-)

  7. I wish there were more hours in the day... now I want to delve into my Romanian Point Lace and Armenian Lace again. I never did work long on either one. Somehow, I must get my life organized so that I have time to do it all! ;-)

Your block heart bracelet looks intriguing! Maybe I'll take the time to delve into block tatting as well!

With Ninetta's gorgeous bugle bead blocks, yes, it is a technique worth delving into :-)
